Mrs. Tuma teaches 6th, 7th and 8th grade math at LAA. She has had the amazing opportunity to teach various elective classes for our middle school students including Performance, Passport, Funky Dance and Fitness. This is her 10th year teaching and 3rd at Liberty Arts Academy. After growing up in Cleveland, Ohio, Mrs. Tuma attended Arizona State University where she earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. She continued taking additional courses to obtain my certification in Secondary Education/Mathematics. A family move back to Ohio took her along a different career path. Mrs. Tuma was a veterinary technician and then an operations manager at a local bank. She later became the trainer at the bank which reignited my passion for teaching. Her family returned to Arizona and Mrs. Tuma has been teaching ever since. Mrs. Tuma strives to make our classroom a place where students WANT to be. Students celebrate their successes and are comfortable and confident to ask questions in a safe learning environment. Our goal is to make math real- how does it apply to the world outside of our classroom walls? We have introduced Blended Learning Centers this year and students are enjoying the opportunity to build on their own specific skill set. It is so exciting to see students have “a-ha” moments in class! Email
